Are you against the national ID database?

Then sign up and make the following pledge:

"I will refuse to register for an ID card and will donate £10 to a
legal defence fund but only if 10,000 other people will also make
this same pledge."

Go to this URL:http://www.no2id.net/

Roughly 5300 people have already done so and this has only been
going for less than one week.

Do please take the trouble to sign up if you don't want to live in
a post industrial, fascist like, but "sort of" elected
dictatorship where, any jumped up little fuck (usually dressed in
a uniform can demand!) at any time/place can insist that you
"prove your identity" forthwith.

Wonder what happens if you to decide to refuse, it'd be
interesting to find out methinks.

Also take note of www.pledgebank.com

Quite an interesting idea IMHO.

I was also heartened to read but a few of the vast number of thee
pledges comments. It is somewhat uplifting to know that there're
still so many people who remain capable of independent thought in
this once great country.

Your topic seems to be about the national ID database, yet your post
seems to be mainly about ID cards. These are not the same thing.

Many, if not most, countries have ID cards or papers. They are generally
a Good Thing.
What would happen if you refused to show your ID to a person
legitimately requesting it (like a police person)? Well, why on worth
would you want to refuse? Have you a reason for wanting to conceal your
identity? In any event, in most countries where ID cards or papers
already exist, generally you would be arrested. It is already the case
(in the UK) that if you refuse to identify yourself to a legitimate
authority, you will almost certainly be arrested anyway.

As for biometric data and national databases, they seem to be a very Bad
Thing.

There are no civil liberties issues with identity cards / papers.
They are not significantly different from having a passport or a modern
driving licence, and nobody objects to those do they?

There are several issues with the biometrics and the database.

Your paragraph beginning "Do please ..." suggests that you are a child,
or at least have an under-developed personality. Try growing up before
posting on complex topics again.
